After a hearty break, the TLL HCA Podcast is back. I don't think I will be posting new shows at the once a week rate that I was in the fall, but I am dedicated to getting two out a month this spring. We will see how it goes. If I get a few comments at itunes, I might decide to do more! Anyway, Episode 18 is here. The sound quality is a bit rough as it is a recording from my third month in Turkey! A blast from the past. But it is a good show none the less. You can of course find and subscribe to the Podcast at either itunes or podbean. Make sure and stop by the Handcrafted Audio page to download just the Turkish as well. I have also rebranded my coaching page and am working tirelessly to get it up and running and a useful site for everyone. It is The Everyday Language Learner. Check it out and subscribe if you like what you find there. And make sure and hit the subscribe button at the top right of this page in order to keep up with new editions to this website. Kolay Gelsin! Add Comment You asked for it, You got it! 01/03/2011
![]() Several TLL readers have asked for the Turkish transcript of the Turkish of the HCA Podcast. Well. Easy enough. Check the TLL HCA Podcast page where you can now download just the Turkish of each episode, but also the Turkish text of each of the first fourteen episodes. Hoping it will make your learning experience even better. I will also be working to get a new episode of the podcast out this week, but will slow things down a bit. In 2011, I have a goal to get the total number of podcast s up to around 50 meaning I will be producing a new show every two weeks - more or less. I would love to get some of your journals, stories or other hand crafted material to record for the show. I am hoping to mix things up with a female voice reading some of my wife's journals in the near future, but it would be great to get a little input from outside of the Myers family as well. Send it in! HCA Podcast Episode 17: Staying Cool 12/14/2010
Merry Christmas! Well, not quite yet, but today's podcast will be the last of 2010. I will be back after the New Year. I am putting a call out to all podcast listeners and Turkish learners for submissions of your handcrafted audio. I can even get someone to record it if you write it and work through the mistakes with a Turk first. Anyway. Get to work and send in some content! But today's program laughs in the face of the recent cold snap with a journal entry from the summer of 2008. It must have been hot because today's show is all about finding ways to combat the heat in our unairconditioned life. Hopefully it will warm you up a bit. As always, jump over to the HCA Podcast page to download just the Turkish of the show which you can find at itunes or podbean. And if you want to leave a comment at itunes that would be greatly appreciated. Have a wonderful Holiday season. TLL HCA Podcast Episode 016: Calling Home 12/07/2010
Hey all. Here is this weeks new podcast. I had a few "issues" with this one, neither of which I solved. First is the nasal drone of my allergy induced voice change. (See my story "Am I Allergic to Turkey") The second is the eternal silence right after the intro. Remember the pigeons from the movie Bolt, "Wait for it, Wait for it." Anyway, sorry about both of those. This weeks show as always can be found at itunes or at podbean. I will let you listen to the summary on the podcast, but it is about trying to call home to the states. Anyway. Take care, have fun and blessings on your Turkish language learning journey. (If you want to share this with a friend, press share above!) TLL HCA Podcast Episode 015: Squirrel Cop 11/30/2010
![]() Today's podcast is a retelling of arguably one of the funniest stories I have ever heard in my entire life. Really. Squirrel Cop was part of a series called This American Life and this particular week's episode was about first days on the job. Two cops in Chicago respond to a call about a noise in the attic. The ensuing mayhem will make you cry with laughter. Listen to the story first by clicking on the picture to the left. Then head over to itunes or Podbean to download the show if you have not subscribed yet. Then of course visit the Handcrafted Audio page and download just the Turkish. This one is a bit different I know - but I listened to it again and laughed so hard I thought it would be good therepy for all of you Turkish learners. Next weeks show will be back to normal. Enjoy. ![]() In today's installment of the Turkish Listening Library Handcrafted Audio Podcast, I talk about the time I broke my wrist as an 18 year old working on a school project with some friends. Ouch! You can listen or download the podcast at itunes or at podbean. You can also subscribe! Be sure and download just the Turkish from the Handcrafted Audio Page. Thanks for listening and if you have any comments or suggestions please let me know. If you are at the itunes page, please consider leaving a comment and rating. Take care and have a great week. Kolay gelsin! In today's podcast I share about my first time sitting down and spending some time talking at the bookstore. It was a great place for language learning and practice and Serdar, Kerem, Göker remain great friends. If you are ever in Kucukyali, make sure and stop by Reha Kitapevi under the Kucukyali Cami. As always, you can listen to the podcast at itunes or at podbean and of course be sure and download just the Turkish at the HCA Podcast page. ![]() I have to apologize to begin with for missing a week. I have tried to get these out regularly every Tuesday, but last week sort of fell apart. Anyway, here is the next podcast. Today's show is a journal I wrote about September 11th. It is mostly a recollection of what I was doing and what it seems to have meant for Americans. I hope it is enjoyable to listen to and more importantly helpful for your Turkish learning journey. Be sure to download just the Turkish audio.so you can really maximize your listening. As always, you can find the podcast at itunes. Please leave a comment and a rating while you are there! Enjoy the show and Kolay Gelsin! In today's podcast I offer up a personal retelling in Turkish of a story a I heard that acts as a bit of a critique of the greed of Western capitalism. In the story, a western businessman vacationing on a tropical island comes across an obviously poor fisherman resting in the shade of his boat on the beach. The interaction between the two reveals some of the futility of the western businessman's quest for wealth, power and prestige. While he is working 50 - 60 hours a week so that he can enjoy one week of vacation on the beach each year, this poor fisherman works five - six hours a day so that he can buy enough food to live and spends every day relaxing on the beach. It is one of those modern parables that perhaps you have heard before. Well, now it is in Turkish too. As always, visit the Handcrafted Audio Podcast page to download just the Turkish of the podcast. Then you can listen again and again. Also, stop by the itunes store and leave a comment. It would be greatly appreciated. Listen Now! In today's podcast, I share my experience of going to a Galatasaray match with my language helper, Mehmet. It was a blast and a great experience. Did Galatasaray win? Did I get trampled by a futbol crazed crowd? Listen now to find out. You can find the podcast at itunes or at Podbean. Leave a comment either place and I would appreciate it greatly. As always, visit the HCA Podcast pageto download just the Turkish. Until next weeks podcast, Kolay Gelsin! | Other Turkish Sites
