Contribute to the Library! (upload your files at the bottom of this page)

In order to create a better more rounded listening library, it is important to include other voices.  But whose voices should we include?  Yours of course.  You too can contribute to the ever expanding library of audio on this site.  And just to let you know, contributing sources will always just be referred to by their first name and their city of residence.

Handcrafted Audio:  Write something.  Write anything.  Make it interesting and fun and of course write it in Turkish.  Don't use a dictionary or a grammar book. Write with the words and grammar that you have right now.  Sit down with a Turk and go at it with the red pen, correct all those pesky endings, let them help you chose better words and correct your mistakes (There should be lots!).  After it is corrected, record your Turkish friend reading it out loud.  Have them read clearly and naturally, but of course not too fast.  Type up the corrected text, write a brief summary in English and upload those plus an MP3 file of the recording at the bottom of this page.  Let me know what category you think it should be in as well.

Narrow Listening:  Choose one of the questions from the narrow listening page or make a good question up yourself.  Ask your Turkish friends to state their first name and their memleket and then answer the question in 2-4 minutes.  Tell them to speak naturally as if speaking to a friend and to not speak too fast.  Again, send the question you asked and upload the MP3 file at the bottom of this page.  No need to type up a transcription.

Other Ideas:  Do you have other ideas for this site?  We would love to hear them.  One idea we have is to create one more page called "stories" where we can have Turkish friends read stories from books or magazines, and perhaps post audio like speeches and sermons too.  A brief summary would be given.  What ideas do you have?

Recording:  If you are wondering how to go about recording and getting MP3 files made, there are a number of free tools on the internet.  We use a great program called Audacity.  It is free and you can do all sorts of crazy cool stuff with it.  (Like slow down audio without loosing sound quality).  You can also purchase hand held recording devices that work great especially if you use a microphone.  Just make sure they can make MP3 files.  If you know of other great programs, we would love to hear about those as well.
